ARCHIVE GUESTBOOK
DECEMBER, 2000

Hi, Jeff
Remember me? Winter Park Jazz Festival, July, 2000. My sister and I had a drink with you and Jonathan Butler in that brew pub at the hotel. Anyway, I have been wanting to let you know that how much I have enjoyed "Dangerous Curves". Being the Eddie Harris fan that I am, I must say that I hear some "Eddie influence" on the CD, especially on "Dangerous Curves"....has anyone else mentioned this to you? I really love it. I've had it in my CD player in my car for quite some time and listen to it over and over. THANK YOU!!!
I know you've heard that we lost KHIH as our smooth jazz station, but now have CD 104.3. I was in a major depression over the loss of KHIH. I couldn't imagine an area like Denver without a smooth jazz station and was SO relieved when I found out about the new station. The first night, I left in on in the house all night, just to make sure it was for real! I've really got it bad for this music. I'm anxious to see if they continue the WPJF (Winter Park Jazz Fest) tradition. Also, KHIH had a couple of series of free concerts; one in the spring, one in the summer and they were so enjoyable. I hope the new station will continue with this. I guess it's way too early to know about Catalina 2001, but Jill and I would love to return in 2001, especially if you're going to be playing. We'll keep ourselves informed as to the lineup for 2001.
Jill and her husband, Clint saw you with Guitars & Saxes at Caravan this fall..they enjoyed the show very much.
Congratulations on your baby! Christopher? Hope all is going well and you and Audrey are getting grooved into things.
I see you and Warren Hill are playing in Boston in March. My husband and I were there in Oct., then went on a bicycle tour of New Hampshire and Vermont.....GREAT time....We want to return to Boston and if we do, I'll try to gear it around a possible Jeff concert. It's a really great city and we didn't get to spend near enough time there. We're also talking about being in NYC with Jill and Clint for Christmas, 2001. Somewhere, somehow, we hope to see you before too long and wish you all the best. "Always there" is playing on the radio now (Ave. Blue verion)...yahooooooo THANKS!!!!

Hi, Jeff. I just checked new staff and noticed video of Jazz fes was linked to your site. It's wonderful!! It's unbelievable that we can see things like that for free!!! It brings back Jazz fes here in Colorado this summer. (I forgive you not coming back to Colorado so soon Ha, Ha)Acctually, Phillipe Sassie is in it, horn section guyes in, since all the avenue blue staff I know was in albums, radio and dmx. Specially I like the loose on stage(not replay of studio work on stage, you know what I mean. Some musicains are like that.) I wonder if I can get this in tape or dvd and watch in big screen. Wooonh, I'm getting greedy... Thanks for putting live in your site. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!!

Jeff- Thought you might enjoy this. I play at a church that does very contemporary ministry. Each week we do 2 instrumental pieces within our service…usually contemporary jazz or contemporary jazz arrangements of hymns and worship songs. Anyway, as a guitarist I’m always looking for stuff that would work in these spots. We have a smokin’ sax player so we do a lot of sax feature stuff…Sanborn, Whalum, Koz…stuff like that.

So, I’m at Barnes and Nobles one day and they have your CD "Out of the Blue" at one of the listening stations. I threw on the phones and began to check out the CD. I was BLOWN AWAY!!! The feel, the tone, the variety of styles, and the passion I heard in your playing hit me hard. My wife practically had to drag me out of the store.

Since then we have done 3 songs off that CD during our Sunday morning services. Bet you never thought your stuff would be played during a church service …huh? We’ve done Indiana Moon, Groanin’, and your arrangement of Manteca.

Each time we’ve done one of your pieces we’ve always had someone ask, "Who was that?" Many saying they were going to purchase the CD. The first time we covered one of the tunes (Indiana Moon) 2 of the guys in the band immediately ordered the CD. I have recently purchased Night Life and Dangerous Curves as well and I’m sure songs from each will grace our congregation soon.

There you have it. Thought you might find it interesting that a church in the mid-west was diggin’ your stuff. I had been in a bit of a slump and was kind of burnt…kind lost the fire for playing for while. But after hearing "Out of the Blue" it inspired me to get back at it. Thanks for sharing your incredible gift.

Hi Jeff,

I caught the Guitars and Saxes tour in Houston and the show was fantastic.

I just picked up Dangerous Curves today.....I can't wait to get home and listen. I love your style, jazz with bit of rock and roll!

Merry Christmas! A ole Avenue Blue fan!

Jeff;
Thanks for the show in Cleveland, your music has the freshest style I've heard in such a long time. The way you make your guitar sound like whales dancing in the ocean to an eagle zeroing in on it's prey at 200 mph is astounding! I told you when we met that I was on my way to go holiday shopping and when I heard you playing live on the radio I turned around and headed for the club. Thanks for the kind words and awsome music!
