Just wanted to give everyone an update,
check in with you all and say hello!
All
is going pretty well. I feel a bit like someone
suddenly transferred me to a foreign land and I am
now forced to learn the lay of the land, the language,
everything...just hoping all this work will keep my
brain active and young...that is what the experts say is
the key to staying young: really use your brain.
Who knew? Well, I am using it, so hopefully
it will pay me back with interest!
Most recently, I have come to be the owner
of a guide dog. The dog is very sweet. He is
a big, black lab named Luke. The trainer, Erik
Lorrie, from Freedom Guide Dogs, came out to my house in
early April, then we headed into New York City for more
training and Erik came on a couple of out of town gigs
to teach me how to manage Luke on planes, at gigs and at
airports. It appears that Luke and Ozzy (our
family dog) get along great. Luke and the kids,
Luke and Audrey...everyone is getting along famously.
He is such a sweet guy. I will keep you all
informed on this continuing journey.
Everything else is going as well as
possible. I still can't see, but I think I have
come to grips with the fact that I will more than likely
not see again for at least 8 to 10 years. I
haven't accepted that this is my fate. I believe I
will, at some point, be seeing again. In the
meantime, I am learning how to deal with
it.
My
kids, Chris and Matthew, and my wife, Audrey, have
all been very supportive. They are my
ever-constant helpers. They are all learning to
accept that this blindness thing was not my idea &
so we are all in the process of figuring out how to
accept this new life.
I
really hope to see you all soon. Please come out
and support the music. The good thing is the
blindness has not effected my guitar playing in a
negative way. So please come to shows and say
HI!
I
hope to see you when I am out on the road.
All
the very best to you all and I really cannot tell you
all how much I have appreciated the love and support I
am receiving from everyone. Please know, it really
helps!
Love,
Jeff
