Hi,
I recently got back from another Warren Hill Smooth Jazz Cruise and as usual it was a BLAST!
I always expect the destinations and vacation aspect of the cruise to be fun (the Caribbean in Jan., whats not to like?), but I’m always blown away at how great the music is. I had such a great time listening to everyone's sets and really loved all of the impromptu jams that happened. By the end of my set we had Warren Hill, Euge Groove, Richard Eliott and Brian Culbertson all on stage with us..Along with the Harris Brothers, that makes for a pretty slammin” ’horn section.
It’s also nice to all be traveling together for a week. It gives me a chance to meet a lot of people who I just see at the shows or communicate to through these emails. I’ll be going back again next January ( 2007). Hopefully I’ll see some of you there.
I’m at home hanging with the family for a few weeks which is always fun but I’m glad to see that my touring schedule is filling up nicely for the summer. I’ll be a part of the 2006 Guitars and Saxes tour along with Peter White, Richard Elliot and Gerald Albright. which
sounds like a great line up that should be well worth catching.
I’m also doing some dates with Warren Hill which are very cool. We’ve started doing these shows with a slightly different format where rather than doing 2 separate sets and maybe just sitting in on a song or 2 with each other. We put together one big set that includes songs from both of our records and we both staying onstage the entire time.On his songs I’m his guitarist and on my songs he’s my sax player. This is really fun for both of us. We’re not doing all that many of these so if you have a chance to come down, I highly recommend this show.
I hope to see you soon,
