March 1997
Dear Website visitors,
Thanks for checking in! I'm sorry it's been so long between
newsletters but I've been busier than a one armed paper
hanger with the itch.
I guess most of my time has been tied up working on John
Waite's next record. After John chose the musicians, we set
up for a few days of rehearsal, then went into the studio to
record the band live and organic as possible. The band is
Shane Fontayne and I alternating on acoustic and electric
guitars, Chuck Kentis (my old friend from the Rod Stewart
Band) on keyboards, Donnie Nossov on bass, Tony Beard
on drums and Mindy Johnstyn on violin and accourdian. I
think it's turning out to be a great record.
Now it's time to get back to Avenue Blue. We've already
started work on the new record and I am delighted with the
results so far. As I'm writing this, I'm on a plane to L.A. to
collaborate with Rick Braun on some more stuff. The priority
from here on out is to finish this record.
Enough about music....I've got 2 new kittens named Ruby and
Luigi. They are absolutely nuts and it's a ball to watch them
chase each other around the apartment. Although I do wish I
could convince them to sleep in a little later in the morning!
I also wanted to mention the very sad passing of guitarist
Zachery Breaux. I didn't know him personally but I was fortun-
ate enough to have heard him play and he was one of the best
contemporary jazz had to offer. I'm glad that at least he left be-
hind a number of fine recordings to be remembered by (Live at
Ronnie Scotts being one of my favorites). I strongly urge you to
pick up one. God Bless his soul.
As time goes on I'll keep you updated on the developement of
the new CD but for right now the plane is about to land and it's
time to get back to work.
Thanks,
