Ola, Como Esta?
I'm writing this letter on a flight returning from Costa Rica
where Audrey and I have just spent 2 great weeks vacationing.
It's a truly wonderful country, great beaches, warm weather,
friendly people, delicious food and awful roads. But hey, you
can't have everything.
The beautiful enviromnet and abundant free time has inspired me
to sketch out a lot of new music. I'm looking forward to getting
together with the band and finishing them up.
Before this vacation I was finishing a number of tour dates in a
package along with Kirk Whalum and Philippe Saisse. It was a real
pleasure and very inspiring to work with these great musicians
night after night, as well as, forming what I hope to be lasting
friendships with some of the nicest people I've ever known.
We were working with the bass player and drummer from Kirk's band,
Don Patterson and Sean McCurley, who did a fantastic job.
I am also very excited the CD, Nightlife has returned to the number
1 spot on the Contemporary Jazz radio for the second time since
it's release and stayed there for the past 4 weeks! The song,
Always There, is the second track to go to #1, (the title track,
Nightlife, being the first), and has stayed at the top of the chart
for the past 3 weeks! My most sincere thanks to anyone who called
their local radio station to request this song. You really make it
happen.
Thanks for checking in on the website and as they say in Costa Rica,
puro vida!
Muchos gracias,

After arriving in New York, clearing customs and all, it was after
midnight when we finally arrived home. Then the best thing of all
happened:
at 7:15am, our cat, Ruby, gave birth to 5 adorable kittens.
This is her second litter and it was so much fun the first time
that I'm really excited about having a bunch of kittens running
around the place again.!
