I caught Jeff at the KIFM Jazzfest this summer in San Diego and was amazed that I never heard of Jeff before, and how he blew everyone else in the line-up away (Boney James,Richard Smith) Being a guitar player myself it takes alot for someone to "rock my shorts" I'm always looking for a player who plays from the heart and mixes jazz and the blues and plays from the heart. Jeff.....You da man!!!!

PAST 1997-1998 ENTRIES BELOW

I can't tell you how lucky my husband I feel to have been at
the Nightlife release party in San Diego. You put a new spin
on jazz. We've introduced many of our friends to your music
and are impatiently awaiting the next new CD. Till then, we'll
listen to the other three over and over again! Thanks!

Hey Jeff..Just found this web site and thought I'd throw my two cents worth in about Nightlife. Grreeeat! Have been listening to it for months now along with your other work. Say you at the Fraze in Kettering a couple of months ago. Only wish I could have been at Gilley's last winter. Hope you make it back to the Heartland soon. Keep playing man.

Thanks......Bill H.

It's really great... I believe Jeff & Avenue Blue are the best Jazz-Funk performers. I listen to this album everywhere: in my car, at home, even on my comp's CD-ROM drive at work! :-)) THANX!!!!!

This cd sounds better with every play. I hope Jeff and company make at least one new release a year from now until well into the 21st century.
They is just warming up! And I'm sure nobody minds if Jeff shows off a little now and then.
He seems to be getting younger all the time. What's his elixer?

Normally, I'd do a track-by-track rundown. This time it's the overall vibe that counts...

I only got this CD yesterday - I taped it and played in the car on the way to my office. I did not curse any other drivers! What a good-time, swinging album. This is gonna get played a lot!

Jeff was the hardest working and soulful artist at the Capital
Jazz Fest in Columbia, Md. This was no small feat considering
the arrray of talent which included Lee Ritenour, Chuck Loeb,The
Rippingtons, Al Jarreau, Michael Franks, Candy Dulfer, and Al
Jarreau. I immediately played all three of Jeff's Cd's. Does
anyone know how to purchase Jeff's 1988 CD?

What an awsome show at the Berks Jazz Fest! You guys were absolutely amazing. Jeff, I admire the way you interact with the crowd and the fans after the show. I would see you guys again, in an instant. Hopefully you will be returning to the Philadelphia area soon. Thanks for the great music.

Jeff is the most soulful guitar player I have ever heard. I cannot wait to see him live. Come to Florida. With Rick Braun on the cd along with the other guests it is an absolute sensual treat to the ears. You can't go wrong with Jeff and Rick working together. I love you both. Give me more!!

Being an amateur guitarist with a fairly good ear,but without Jeff Golub's obvious command of his instrument, I was immediately impressed with this effort.
Seamlessly innovative, funky, and always tastefully creative. A real keeper!!

I didn't know much about you except that when I heard Nightlife on the FM I liked it. Saw you along with Kirk Whalum and Philippe Saisse at Gillys in Dayton OH on Jan 21 and I was impressed. I purchased the CD on the spot and thank you for autographing it and it was great meeting you also. You have great stage presence; you're a true showman; God has really blessed you. The CD is great; love your covers; and I'm looking forward to your next release. Please consider covering the Detriot Emeralds "Baby, Let Me Take You In My Arms". Please excuse any mistakes...I'm in Naples, Italy and I'm sleepy. Later....

Jeff Golub is a breath of fresh air in the stuffy world of contemporary jazz. His playing displays a sophistication and style while exploring the boundries of R+B and soul. His live performance was fabulous and his personality really shone through. I guess all the excited music lovers really pumped him up. Jeff was so gracious after the show to speak with me for a moment and give me his guitar pick from the performance! What a cool dude!

Jeff

I just picked up your latest CD today! After reading the
following comments on this CD, It must be the same quality
work as "Naked City". You and Rick Braun might become the
next Lennon-McCartney for the classification of "Smooth Jazz".

Thanks for the FRESH sounds!

For the last year or so, I've been tuning into public radio more and more..... especially the jazz programs on WVTF. I heard This cd played and decided I'd make my first jazz purchase. Thanks guys, for opening the door to some fabulous stuff. Being a guitarist myself (not of Golub caliber, of course) I've always been a huge blues and rock fan. I guess I've been matured into jazz. This is a great album, and will proudly recommend it to my friends. Hope I can see Avenue Blue live around here somewhere in the near future.

CD is getting a good play both herer and in Atlanta where I travel to weekly. Clean and uncluttered is how I would try to describe the style on this CD. How about a tour stop in the south? I think Jeff and Ave Blue would blow away Nashville.

I saw and heard Jeff's "Nightlife" in person in Austin on November 21, 1997 and had to buy this CD on the spot! Thanks, Jeff, for autographing my copy. Bob James told us that he had never performed in Austin (THE LIVE MUSIC CAPITOL OF THE WORLD!), so the combination was truly awesome. Throw in some Philippe Saisse and Kirk Whalum on the same stage . . . . I'll still talking about it! Naked City is an excellent CD, as you know. The cut, Naked City, just makes me what to get naked . . . Thanks again and come back to Austin. We are starving for talent like yours, Jeff!

I heard the title cut last Monday, bought the disc on Tuesday, and have just fallen in love! The whole disc is fabulous. I am wondering if there is any way to get some sheet music so that our college jazz band could play it? We're actually pretty decent as far as "school bands" go. Anyway, thanks for some awesome tunes...looking forward to more in the future!

The last album was great, but Nightlife goes beyond! I can't wait for Jeff and Avenue Blue to come back toward Massachusetts- I missed my chance when they were in NY. Congratulations on an album well written, produced and recorded. Sunday morning just got a whole lot better!

I love the smooth grove that the Avenue Blue Band lays down for Jeff Golub. When I first heard "nightlife" on the radio I was taken by the awesome percussion play that "Soul II Soul" created about ten years ago. It was more than that. What really brought the percussion play home for me was when I learned that Steve Ferrone was the drummer on this cut. His skill made the "Average White Band" more than average - He made them legendary. This CD is a must have!

While listening to some albums on display at Circuit City,
I came across this jazz album. I don't usually listen
to Jazz but I decided to give this album a try. It was the
most extraordinary album. The guitar playing was legendary.
It was Avenue Blue's album, Nightlife. It incorporates a blend
of R&B and jazz that is outstanding.
