1.
“People Gonna Talk” -- James
Hunter 2006 - If you’re a Sam Cooke fan, which I am,
you’re either going to love or hate this CD. James
Hunter is a singer guitarist from England who was
obviously very influenced by Sam, Jackie Wilson and
everyone on the 60’s R&B scene. I personally love
hearing this tradition carried on with new excitement
and vigor. I’ve probably played this CD 100 times since
I bought it last month.
2.
“Pay
the Devil” -- Van Morrison - Van sings classic
country songs. I love these tunes and it’s really cool
to hear them with Van’s distinctive voice.
3. "Live" Person to Person -- Average White Band - This is AWB
live at the top of their game. Man they were just SO
good!
4.
“Naked
Guitar” -- Earl Klugh 2006 - I wish I could make
this much music just by myself.
5.
“Try” John Mayer Trio -
Mantaca-(Prestige) - I knew that he was a good guitar
player but I didn't realize he was THIS good .Very
Hendrix/ Stevie Ray Vaughn influenced This was recorded
live to really capture the performance and with Steve
Jordan on drums and Pino Paladino on bass the band is
about as good as a rock trio can be.
