Hi,
Well
it’s that holiday time of the year again. From now through December it’s
party time!
One thing in particular that I’m
really excited about this year is that I’ve recorded my
first ever Holiday record, “Six String Santa “, AND I’m
also playing my first holiday shows as part of
“Have Yourself a Funky Little Christmas” along
with my good friends Warren Hill and Jeff Lorber ( let’s
not forget about Ricky Lawson on drums and Smitty Smith
on bass!)
That’s kind of what brought this
record about. I was thinking about the Christmas songs
that I wanted to play in the show. This made me realize
how much I really dig these tunes and I thought to
myself that I would love to record some of them. I then
mentioned it to some musician friends of mine ( I guess
I have a lot of friends who are musicians. Like they
say, “Birds of a feather......” ) and they all said
“Let’s do it !”. Within hours (OK, days) we were in the
studio recording and having a blast. Now bear in mind,
this was October, most people start working on a
Christmas release months in
advance, not WEEKS!, but the inspiration was there so we
just kept going for it. Next thing I knew we had a
finished CD and I LOVE it!
Now I knew that no matter what, we
didn’t have enough lead time to do an official release
for this year so this CD won’t actually be in stores
until next Christmas, but for those of you who keep in
touch through these newsletters and checking in on
the website, we’re doing a limited release available
only through jeffgolub.com.
This is the exact same CD that
other people will be buying in 2008. You’re just getting
it before everyone else.
My friends who I had the pleasure
to play with on “Six String Santa” are: Steve Ferrone - drums Shawn Pelton - drums
Lincoln Goines - Acoustic and
Electric Bass Roger Squitero -
Percussion
Chris Palmaro -
Keyboards
and Special Guest Warren Hill- Alto
Sax
Mixed by Steven Miller Mastered by Rick Braun
Cover Art By Greg McKee
I think we
came up with some really fun takes on these classic
holiday songs. I hope you’ll pick up a copy of “Six
String Santa” and let us be part of this year’s
Christmas party!
HAPPY
HOLIDAYS!!!!
