Hi,
I just got back from the
Wayman Tisdale Smooth Jazz Cruise and as always, it was
a blast.
I originally started playing on these
cruises because I thought it would be a nice working
vacation but I’ve now come to appreciate the music
that’s made the more than anything. It’s great having so
many musician friends all staying on the boat because a
lot of impromptu jams happen.
One day at lunch
Kirk Waylum and I decide we wanted to play a bit so
unannounced, the 2 of us just plugged into the sound
system at the piano bar outside of the dining room and
started playing. A nice crowd gathered and we had a
ball!
Another night the Philippe Saisse
Trio had a gig but it ended up being the Philippe Saisse
7 because Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, Jesse J and myself
ended up playing most of the set with them.
These
are just a few examples but you get the idea.
Oh
yeah, the Caribbean in January wasn’t bad
either.
Hope to see you soon,
